Description
The 19th Annual Matzohball 5k & 1 Mile run/walk is a family friendly event around the lake in Ellicott City's picturesque Centennial Park on Sunday, June 4th.
We welcome runners, walkers and joggers of all ages and abilities. Interactive activities at Howard County Family Wellness Day include health screenings and wellness related booths, the annual Fire & Rescue Pump-A-Thon and a demonstration by the Kangaroo Kids, an internationally acclaimed precision jump rope team. Running, walking or just enjoying the activities, there is something for everyone!
Temple Isaiah in Fulton, MD coordinates the run, in partnership with Howard County Family Wellness Day for this combined unique event complete with the “Running of the Rabbis”, the cheering “Matzoh Belles” and fun activities for all ages. There is always an iconic shirt and runners receive a certificate for a cup of Matzohball soup from Mikey & Mel’s in Maple Lawn! Every child participating in the 1- mile run/walk receives a finisher award.
Make your miles matter! Participant fees support HopeWorks, Grassroots Crisis Intervention and Dream Builders, enabling them to continue their important work. This year our theme is: Born to Run… Together, emphasizing diversity and inclusion and the importance of valuing every human being, no matter our differences.
The Matzohball 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk was established in 2004 to promote physical activity and overall wellness and is a popular event in Howard County. Participants come together to enjoy the run and activities, gather and connect as well as strengthen and serve the community.
TOGETHER…Let’s support our neighbors in need and set a good example for our children!
