Howard County Food Gleaning Facilitation
The Howard County Food Council invites farmers, community gardeners, food retailers/processors, organizations working with volunteers, and food pantry staff to a facilitated food gleaning exercise led by the Society of St. Andrew. Gleaning involves harvesting extra crops from farms and gardens to give to neighbors facing hunger. It can also be expanded to salvaging surplus produce from food retailers and processors. It helps reduce food waste and increases access to fresh food among neighbors in need. Please consider participating in this very impactful event.
