Description: Counselors’ cultural competency influences clients’ feelings that they are understood and accepted by their counselors. Honoring clients’ stories happens when the details of their unique cultural background and current situations are considered, valued, and incorporated into the helping process. This training examines cultural, social, historical, personal and emotional factors that impact the counseling relationship. Attendees will learn culturally responsive strategies to better connect with clients for positive outcomes.
